Water Utilities Bill Information & Guidance
Our clients come from a wide variety of sectors (industrial, pharma, hospitality, healthcare) but they all have one thing in common: they are charged for every cubic meter (1,000 litres) of water used on their premises.
Despite these costs, many businesses do not become aware of the cost of water until the receive a high water utility bill. This is when we are usually asked to get involved to perform a survey of their facilities to identify the cause of the high water usage (leaks or water using devices).
The Cost of a Leak
The new Irish Water non-domestic tariff framework will result in charges for business customers and mixed-use customers who use water services for both business and domestic purposes. Irish Water are also planning on introducing an excessive usage water charge when a household uses more than 213,000 litres/year or roughly 583 litres/day. Under normal circumstances households should not need to use more than this, however with a leak on your premises, it can be easy to go over this figure. A small leak on a pipe dripping 1 drip every 3 seconds, uses 7 litres/day or 2,500 l/year which can lead to high and unexpected water bills not including the cost to find and fix the leak.
Screening your premises for leaks is important for a number of reasons. Along with the cost of water loss to leaks, business should also consider the cost to repair the leak or any damage caused by a leak. By giving us a call, you are making savings proactively for your business which can be put towards other capital projects.
